eating the elephant

It’s discouraging when you sit down to your work for the day and you’re met by a thousand tasks and you don’t know where to start on any of them, so you avoid them all.

Has anyone else experienced this? what are your tricks for breaking the cycle?

Do you choose the smallest task to work on first?

Do you face the biggest one and get it over with?

Do you ask for help?

^^That’s what I want to do. I need someone to download my thoughts to. I need someone else to help me break the cycle.

That’s why I’m here, friends. confessing online that I’m struggling. my work takes a back seat to 24-7 solitaire and literally anything else I can keep doing to avoid my work — including this post.

I’m currently on the floor of a half-cleaned room, my heart pounding from all the extra sugar I’ve been feeding it for no reason, my dishes still clogging the sink from two nights ago, and not having eaten dinner, actually, just a carrot and leftover cake batter.

what I need to get done is a bunch of emails because I misplaced some paperwork. It’s extremely difficult to start fixing something when it’s your fault.

tips, prayers, and support appreciated. But telling someone is the first step to me fixing it.

I didn’t post this at the time of writing, but I was able to soon start on my work and make it out quite alive, hopeful, and mostly functional. Please do share your tips, though, for the next time I find myself overwhelmed.

Cheers, all!
